This paper mainly describes the achievement and improvement steps of project report system in Plant Engineering and Maintenance Dept. of China Steel Corporation. The Service Report System reveals status of project progress and project performance prompt, and also shows the exceptional events without delay so that an immediate action can be taken to ensure the project progressing properly.
The improvement process was divided into three steps. First, standardization of the documents was established, and the information was made available in electronic form.
Then, a project tracking report was developed in order to follow up project progressing and expedite the delay items.

Finally, by setting up some useful performance index a prompt project progressing report with perform measurement and exceptional events can be identified. Both project manager and customer representative can review the effectiveness, forecast project outcomes, and then concentrate their mind on the exceptional events for discussion and making a good decision.
It was concluded that demands for customer satisfaction, web base prompt reporting and knowledge base project information system were of great urgency. Those items provide much room for continuous system improvement .
